Midwest Refrigerated Services (MRS), a leading provider of transportation, warehousing, and logistics solutions in the Midwest, has experienced consistent growth across its operations. To support this upward trajectory, MRS identified an ideal 83-acre site in Belvidere, Illinois—strategically positioned along the Union Pacific Railroad—for its next phase of expansion. With ample space for future development, the location aligned perfectly with MRS’s long-term goals. To bring their vision to life, MRS partnered with Consolidated to create a comprehensive Master Plan Strategy, which culminated in the design and construction of a new distribution center that officially opened in February 2025.
The newly completed facility spans200,000 square feet of space, including a high-performance cold storage warehouse capable of accommodating 36,000 pallet positions. It’s equipped with state-of-the-art layer picking technology, ensuring optimized efficiency and scalability for MRS’s operations.
In addition to the warehouse, the building includes modern office space featuring executive suites, open workspaces, and multiple conference rooms. The facility also supports workforce needs with 33 dock doors for streamlined logistics, a spacious break room, locker room, and a dedicated employee training area.
As the second MRS facility in the Belvidere market, this development not only enhances MRS’s distribution capabilities but also contributes significantly to the local economy—creating 85 new jobs and reinforcing the company’s role as a key employer in the region.
