PROJECT GOALS:
With the expansion of the KI Convention Center sparking a renaissance in downtown Green Bay, the neighboring Clarion hotel became both a liability and an eyesore due to its age and condition. To draw international clientele, the hotel would need a new brand and extensive upgrades to its structure, mechanicals, life safety, and exterior.
One month before renovations began, a massive water main break complicated design and construction logistics, and the scope grew to involve insurance claim work. Consolidated gutted, demolished portions of, and rebuilt this 7-story hotel and coordinated activities with the KI Center contractor on a shared, urban site.
This project earned a Projects of Distinction Gold Award from Associated Builders and Contractors, and the Mayor’s Beautification Award.
